PRESS RELEASE: NPA GRAND NATIONAL UPDATE

It is with great frustration that I must announce that the NPA board has been forced to cancel the upcoming National in Amarillo in January 2023 due to the Avian Flu outbreak in North America. The state of Texas has imposed demands upon us that were simply not feasible and the NPA board felt that putting the exhibitors and their birds at risk would not be a wise decision. For the past couple of weeks we have worked with legislators, veterinarians and local politicians in Texas in an attempt to receive an exemption to the rules for exhibiting poultry in the state of Texas due to the fact that pigeons are not poultry but to no avail.

We deeply regret this decision and we’re left with no options. We will begin to search for suitable locations for the following years.

On behalf of the board I apologize to everyone who has already made their travel plans as this was something that came to light yesterday after many negotiations with the powers that be in Texas.
